Evolution Cell Phone Tour

Today marks the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, the man who first described biological evolution via natural selection. As gardeners, we all observe the relationships between plants, insects, and animals on a regular basis. But, have you ever wanted to learn the details of some of the relationships that plants have with mycorrhizae, insects, and humans alike? Colin Purrington, professor of Biology at Swarthmore College, worked with his students in his BIOL 034 course to create our newest cell phone audio tour which focuses on the evolutionary relationships that plants create with the natural world. Learn from these Swarthmore students about topics ranging from the evolution of climbing plants to the adaptive significance of catnip odor to the evolution of beetle pollination in magnolias.
