Nature’s Narratives: The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race
January 12, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
FreeJoin fellow garden enthusiasts and book lovers as they discuss books about plants, nature, and the environment. “Nature’s Narratives” is a book discussion group sponsored by the Scott Arboretum where readers come together to discuss a book once a month and share in their reading experience.
The bestselling author of Leonardo da Vinci and Steve Jobs shines in this fascinating narrative of how Nobel Prize winner Jennifer Doudna and her colleagues’ innovations will allow us to cure diseases, resist viruses, and have healthier babies. We will discuss The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race by Wallace Isaacon.
Each discussion is free and will be offered through Zoom. Advance registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link (and note that Zoom needs to be downloaded on your device to participate).
Participants are encouraged but not required to read each month’s selection prior to the discussion. Nature’s Narratives will be led by Elizabeth Haegele and participants will be free to make comments and be part of the discussion – or just listen in.
