Gardens and Tonic: The Solstice Garden – The International Garden Festival – Chaumont-sur-Loire
June 3, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin Nicholas Tomlan (from France!) as he describes his award-winning garden designed for the famous garden festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley in France. His design touches on the idea of solstice lines and uses a very naturalistic plant palette with plants adapted to hot and dry summers.
Nicholas Tomlan attended the University of Delaware, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Plant Science and Ornamental Horticulture. He then worked for Longwood Gardens for 15 years in several positions in the outdoor gardens before moving with his wife and family in 2015 to the Loire Valley in France. Nicholas worked for 3 years as the Botanical Director at the Château de Chenonceau before starting his own design company in 2018. Nick works primarily on private gardens, while continuing to partner with Chenonceau in design and garden projects.
Gardens and Tonic is a series of virtual webinars with horticulture professionals. Grab your favorite beverage and join Julie Jenney from the Scott Arboretum and a featured horticulture professional for plant-related topics, adventures, and stories – as well as design-focused talks on private and public gardens. Time will be set aside to answer your questions.
Registration is free but required. Participants must have Zoom downloaded on their computer and be comfortable using it. The webinar link will be included in the confirmation email received after registering online.
