Captivating Cacti and Succulents

Join Scott Arboretum Garden Supervisor Lars Rasmussen, who is also in charge of plant health, for a serious and humorous ride to learn about some of his favorite kinds of plants, their use as houseplants, and how they work in the garden. These plants surprise with an amazing variety of form and flowers. The class will also venture outside to meet with Horticulturist Josh Coceano to see his cacti and succulent container creations throughout the Arboretum. Lars and Josh will discuss care, pests and diseases, soil and light, dividing and handling, repotting and the tools required. Lars has been growing these plants since childhood and will discuss his experiences. If time allows, attendees will get to see a green roof on campus. Dress for time outside. Attendees will take a potted succulent or cactus home to enjoy. Limit 18.
