Fleeting Color of Creole Lady

Our horticulturist, Josh Coceano, is in love with a new blooming beauty! He is proudly introducing his new “lady” too all the visitor, volunteers, and staff. His new darling, Hibiscus roas-sinensis ‘Creole Lady’, has an amazing ability to mature its blooms through a sequence from one radiant color to another.

Creole lady’s performance begins with luminescent pink-tipped petals fading to a silver-purple center. This color slowly fades over the course of a day and half maturing to a delightful pale yellow with a silver-purple center.  The flower is punctuated by a bright orange stigma.

These blooms of varying stages appear on the plant at same time, harmonizing in a gleeful way. No wonder Josh is showing off his new darling to all plant lovers.

H. ‘Creole Lady’ is hardy to zone 10, thus it must be overwintered inside, where it will go dormant. Plant the lady outside with the rest of your tropical containers in late May. With adequate watering and fertilizer, you can enjoy this lady’s performance from late spring till fall. You will be showing her off to all your visitors too.
