Travels @ 12: A Trip to Portugal: Exploring the Wild and Tamed

Join Abi Urena to experience the highlights of her eight-day trip to Portugal as a Longwood Gardens Professional Horticulture student. The Class of 2024 focused on studying the natural growth of Mediterranean plants in relatively wild environments. Visit national parks, restorations, and formal gardens across Madeira, Porto, and Lisbon. 

Travels @ 12 is an online series for plant enthusiasts to vicariously experience gardens and natural spaces throughout the world. 

Registration is free, but required to receive the Zoom webinar and recording links.

About the Presenter

Abigail Urena joined Scott Arboretum & Gardens’ horticulture team as a Gardener in July 2024 after she graduated from the professional horticulture program at Longwood Gardens. Prior to entering the Longwood student program, she worked at Reeves Reed Arboretum in Summit, N.J., as a seasonal garden assistant and at Blue in Green Gardens in New York where she installed and maintained gardens in the city. She holds a B.S. in public health, magna cum laude, from William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. Her focus in public health centered on the relationship between the natural environment and human well-being.
