Pruning Techniques: An in-person class at the Scott Arboretum

This class is for those of you who know the basics of pruning but would like to learn more about how to prune specific types of plants and learn specific pruning techniques. Scott Arboretum Garden Supervisor Adam Glas will cover roses, clematis, other vines, and cutback shrubs, as well as how to espalier and pollard. Scott Arboretum Gardener Andrew DeGothseir will cover broadleaf evergreens, hydrangeas, conifers, and structural pruning of young trees. The class will be limited to 24 participants and then divided into two groups of 12 at the start of class. One group will go with Adam while the other group will go with Andrew. After a 45-minute break for lunch, the groups will switch. Bring your own lunch. The entire class will be held outside so be sure to dress for the weather and walking the campus.*Please hold the rain date on your calendar; reimbursements will not be made if you can’t make the bad weather date.
