Nature’s Narratives: The End of Night: Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light

February 9, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Free
books

Join fellow garden enthusiasts and book lovers as they discuss books about plants, nature, and the environment. “Nature’s Narratives” is a book discussion group sponsored by the Scott Arboretum where readers come together to discuss a book once a month and share in their reading experience.

In this personal narrative, Paul Bogard sheds light on the necessity of darkness, detailing what we have lost, what we still have, and simple ways we can reduce the illumination of our nights in The End of Night: Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light.

Each discussion is free and will be offered through Zoom. Advance registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link (and note that Zoom needs to be downloaded on your device to participate).

Participants are encouraged but not required to read each month’s selection prior to the discussion. Nature’s Narratives will be led by Elizabeth Haegele and participants will be free to make comments and be part of the discussion – or just listen in.
