Travels at Twelve: Jeff Jabco & Julie Jenney: Happy Valley – Centre County and State College, PA
February 18, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeJeff Jabco grew up in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and graduated in horticulture from Penn State University so it is a special place for him to share. In May 2019 Jeff and Julie scouted out an Amish Farm, The Arboretum at Penn State, the PSU Horticulture and Research Farm, Spring Creek Canyon, and enjoyed checking out Big Spring Spirits and Good Intent Cider. The highlight of their trip though was to Franklin Chow’s tree peony collection during peak bloom. Join them on a visual journey of a trip they hope to run someday soon!
Travels at Twelve is an informal way to share what has been seen and discovered in various gardens and natural spaces throughout the world.
Registration is free but required. Participants must have Zoom downloaded on their computer and be comfortable using it. The webinar link will be included in the confirmation email received after registering online.
Jeff Jabco, Director of Grounds and Coordinator of Horticulture, has been on staff since 1990. Before coming to Swarthmore, he worked for Penn State University Cooperative Extension as a horticulture agent in southeastern Pennsylvania; he also owned and operated a garden design and vegetable production business. He is a graduate of Penn State University and has a Master’s degree from North Carolina State University in Horticulture/Plant Breeding and Plant Pathology.
Julie Jenney is the Educational Programs Coordinator for the Scott Arboretum. She has led thirteen overnight trips around the country for Associates of the Scott Arboretum and looks forward to doing so again. In addition to trips, events, classes, and conferences, Julie plans and moderates the virtual Gardens and Tonic series.
